9/14/2011 12:21:00 PM | Men's Soccer
Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team is once again looking to move over the .500 mark for the first time since late in the 2007 season. Their next opportunity comes this weekend when The Highlanders play host to UNLV on Friday at 7 pm and San Jose State on Sunday at noon. Fans who are unable to attend may follow both matches on their computers and mobile devices via LiveStats.
The Rebels have dropped three sraight matches heading into the weekend incuding both of their decisions in the UNLV Nike Invitational last weekend. Both matches ended in 2-1 losses for the Rebels against San Francisco and Green Bay. Their three-match skid began on September 3 when they lost 5-1 to Cal State Fullerton at the Cal State Northridge Labor Day Classic.
UNLV evened the all-time series with UC Riverside at 3-3-0 with a 1-0 win over the Highlanders on October 3, 2009. Prior to that defeat, UCR had won three straight against the Rebels.
The Spartans have wins over Fresno Pacific and Nebraska-Omaha to their credit so far in 2011, and have given up just three goals in four matches.
San Jose State owns a 4-3-0 record against UC Riverside in seven career matches, including wins in three of the last four meetings. The Highlanders are 3-1-0 at the UCR Soccer Stadium, however.
ATTENTION FANS: Those of you attending Sunday's match against San Jose State will need to park in Lot 19 as Lot 24 will be in use as students move in to their rooms that day.
