The UC Riverside women’s basketball team is riding a two-game winning streak heading into the month of February, and is hoping to avenge an earlier loss to Cal State Northridge as the teams’ meet for the second time this season on Thursday, February 2. Tip off against the league-leading Matadors is slated for 4:00 pm at the Student Recreation Center.
The Highlanders snapped their program-worst nine-game losing skid on January 21, and have increased their offensive output in the last three games averaging 68.3 ppg compared to 52.0 over the six games prior.
Cal State Northridge defeated UCR 63-55 on Dec. 31, emerging victorious against the Highlanders for the first time since Jan. 6, 2007. The Matadors are led offensively by Jasmine Erving’s 14.1 points and 8.4 rebounds a game.
UC Riverside’s Tre’Shonti Nottingham paces the squad with 15.2 points per game, but averages 19.2 in Big West play—second most in the conference.
The Highlanders own the all-time series record against CSUN, 31-23.
