Los Angeles, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team is hitting the books hard this week as they finish final exams, but another difficult test awaits them Saturday as they travel west to take on the USC Trojans at 4 pm PT.
The Highlanders are 1-1 since returning from the CARRS/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout with a win over Northern Colorado (box score/recap) and a loss at Pepperdine (box score/recap). They continue to have a balanced scoring attack with four players averaging between 11.4 and 9.0 points per game. Junior Chris Harriel leads the squad followed by freshman Josh Fox at 10.0, junior Chris Patton at 9.8 and senior Robert Smith.
USC (3-6) started the season with three wins in its first four games, but has dropped five in a row since then. The Trojans also bring a balanced offense into the weekend with four players scoring between 11.3 and 8.6 points.
J.T. Terrell leads the squad and is connecting on 34.0-percent of his three-pointers on the season. Former UC Irvine standout Eric Wise, who transferred to USC last season, is second at 10.3 points per game while making 54.3 percent of his field goal attempts and grabbing 5.1 boards per game.
The Highlanders and Trojans have faced off against one another on five previous occasions with USC winning all five (view all-time results). UC Riverside played host to the Trojans last year dropping a 56-35 decision (box score/recap).
