Riverside—The UC Riverside softball team gets the Big West Conference portion of its schedule underway this weekend with a three-game series at UC Davis. The series has been pushed back a day due to incoming inclement weather which is expected to hit the Davis area on Saturday.
The Highlanders will now play a doubleheader against the Aggies on Sunday, April 1 beginning at 12:00 pm, and conclude the series with a single game on Monday, April 2 at noon.
UC Riverside swept a doubleheader against CSU Bakersfield Wednesday afternoon, 4-3 and 2-1, running their winning streak to five straight and moving them two games over .500 this late in the season for the first time since the 2006 season when the team was 18-14 through 32 games.

GAME NOTES
GONE STREAKING
After dropping nine of their first 10 games, the Highlanders have since won 16 of 22.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES
The Highlanders won 13 games last season, but have already won 17 games in 2012.
ON TOP OF THE WORLD
UCR is 17-15 in 2012, and should they maintain that winning percentage would be the highest in the program's Division I history.
| Best Winning Percentage (UCR DI) | |
| 2012 | .531 |
| 2006 | .449 |
| 2010 | .407 |
OFF THE CHARTS
UC Riverside's 16 runs against Eastern Kentucky on Mar. 7 are the most in the Division I history of the program for a single-game total. The previous high was 15, set at Utah State on May 3, 2003.
HOME RUN QUEENS
The Highlanders hit three home runs in each game of their doubleheader on March 7. The three homers are tied for third in a single-game in UCR D-I history.
UC Riverside also has 14 home runs in 32 games so far in 2012. In the team's 23 non-conference games a year ago, the Highlanders hit just two home runs.
CONFERENCE DIVAS
The Highlanders are ranked second in the Big West Conference in batting average, slugging percentage, and on base percentage, while leading the league in triples, stolen bases, and steal attempts.
On the national scene, center fielder Kayla White is tied for sixth in the country in triples, while first baseman Jessica Vasser is ranked 31st in walks.
DON'T SHUT ME OUT
UC Riverside shutout Portland State on two occasions during the Highlander Classic, winning 5-0 on March 1 and defeating them 8-0 in five innings on March 4.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION
After scoring a combined three runs in five games from Feb. 17-19, the Highlanders exploded for 28 runs over their next four games.
SHOWING NO MERCY
UCR has eight-run, mercy-ruled four opponents so far in 2012—UIC on Feb. 24, South Dakota on Feb. 26, Portland State on Mar. 4, and Eastern Kentucky on Mar. 7. It is the most since the 2007 squad mercy ruled five opponents.
FEELING A LITTLE RANK
The Highlanders faced off against the top team in country on Feb. 18, dropping a 10-0 ballgame to Cal. The Golden Bears were the first ranked opponent UCR has faced since playing #4 Arizona on March 6, 2011.
ALL-BIG WEST
The UC Riverside softball team placed three players on the 2011 All-Big West Team. Kayla White was named to the first team—just the third Highlanders player in the program's Division I history to gain a spot on the league's top squad—while Kameryn Hebenton and Brittany Keeney were named to the All-Big West Second Team.
COACHING CHANGES
UC Riverside will have two new faces in the dugout this season, as Michell Vlahos joins the Highlanders as an assistant coach, and former player Kameryn Hebenton joins the staff as a volunteer coach.
