Long Beach, CA—The UC Riverside Volleyball Team dropped a 3-0 decision at Long Beach State on Saturday evening in Big West Conference action.
The 49ers (11-9, 4-3) out hit the Highlanders (1-17, 0-6) .306 to -.054, winning the sets by the scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 25-8.
Two LBSU players recorded game-highs of nine kills apiece while Bri Holmes and Cristina Maietta had five to lead UCR.
The 49ers led from the start in both sets one and three, but in the second, the Highlanders had an early 6-2 lead, and still led at 12-8 midway through.
Long Beach State then ralled scoring five of the next seven points to cut UCR's lead to one, 14-13. The run continued as LBSU rattled off five straight as part of a 12-1 run to close out the match, 25-15.
Next up for UC Riverside is a pair of home contests against UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly on October 25 and 26 respectively at the SRC Arena in Riverside.
