Box Score - UC Davis 3, UC Riverside 0
Davis, CA - The UC Riverside Volleyball Team traveled to UC Davis on Thursday evening to start the second half of Big West Conference play, but the Aggies took home the 25-15, 25-15 and 25-19 win.
UCD (13-9, 5-4) took control early in set one, taking a 7-1 lead, but the Highlanders (1-20, 0-9) rallied by scoring eight straight points to go up 9-7. Ashley Cox recorded three kills during the run while Lindsay Hornsby added one kill and Maddie Hubbell had a service ace.
The Aggies stopped UCR's rally with a pair of points, but another Hornsby kill put the Highlanders up one, 10-9. The teams then traded points until 13-13, when UC Davis scored seven consecutive to take a 20-13 advantage.
The Highlanders could not recover, however, as the Aggies closed out the set on a 5-2 run for the 25-15 victory.
The second set saw similar action early on as the teams stayed within three points of one another through 14-11. It was at that point, though, that the Aggies put on another run, outscoring UCR 11-4 to conclude the set and earn the 25-15 win.
In the third set, UC Riverside rallied back from a 19-11 deficit to cut the margin to four, 23-19. Fabiana Rosas had four kills during that span while UCR benefited from three Aggies errors.
That forced a Davis timeout, but UCD came out of the break with back-to-back kills to close out the set and match, winning 25-19.
For the game, the Highlanders enjoyed balancing scoring as Cox recorded 10 kills, Rosas had eight, and Annishia McKoy added seven. Three different Aggies players each recorded 12 kills apiece to lead the team.
UC Riverside remains on the road traveling to No. 24 ranked Cal State Northridge on Saturday, November 2 at 7 pm PT in Northridge, CA.
