Greeley, CO—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team continues its swing through Colorado Territory this week as they travel to Northern Colorado on Monday, December 16 for a 6:05 pm PT tip against the Bears.
The Highlanders are coming off of a 62-52 loss at Air Froce that saw them hold the Falcons to 29.0 percent shooting from the floor and 22.2 percent from three-point range. But Air Force outrebounded UC Riverside on the offensive glass by a 15-3 margin, and forced the Highlanders into 20 turnovers to secure the victory (box score/recap).
Northern Colorado is 5-2 on the year having won its last three games. Derrick Barden's 14.1 points per game leads the squad. He is joined in double figures by Tevin Svihovec (12.1), Tate Unruh (11.3) and Tim Huskisson (10.9).
The Bears are outscoring their opponents by more than 11 points per game thanks to 48.5 percent shooting from the field and 39.8 percent from three-point range. The Northern Colorado defense is limiting the opposition to 39.7 percent shooting from the floor, and 27.2 percent from beyond the arc.
The Highlanders and Bears met for the first time a year ago as UC Riverside picked up a 69-63 victory over Northern Colorado on December 1, 2012 (box score/recap).
