Baseball Opens Season With Alumni Game Saturday At 1 pm PT

Riverside—The UC Riverside Baseball Season gets underway this weekend as the Highlanders host their annual Alumni Game at the Riverside Sports Complex. First pitch is slated for 1 pm PT, and admission is free. If you can't make it out to the yard, you can still follow all of the action as the Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, brings the call of the game to gohighlanders.com (Listen Live).
Regular season play begins the following weekend as the Highlanders travel to Palm Springs for a tournament hosted by Oregon State. The first official home game of the 2013 season is March 1 at 6 pm as UC Riverside takes on Saint Mary's in the first of a three-game weekend series (View the entire schedule).
UC Riverside is coming off of an eighth place finish a year ago with an overall record of 22-32 and a Big West mark of 9-15. The Highlanders return all but one position player from last year's team, and lose just one starting pitcher.
