Nottingham Scores 23 As Women's Basketball Defeats Titans, 64-45

Box Score - UC Riverside 64, Cal State Fullerton 45
Fullerton, CA - Tre'Shonti Nottingham scored 23 points and three others added double-figures as the UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team defeated Cal State Fullerton, 64-45, Saturday afternoon at Titan Gym.
Nottingham hit 5-of-12 from the field and 12-of-12 from the foul line to lead all players in scoring. Natasha Hadley added 14 points for the Highlanders (11-10, 4-6) while Brittany Crain and Janelle Kearney each had 11. Kearney also chipped in with 11 rebounds.
Annie Park led The Titans (7-15, 3-7) with 17 points.
Both teams were a bit rusty out of the gate, going a combined 0-for-8 from the floor until Nottingham connected on a layup 2:01 into the game.
The teams traded buckets over the next five minutes until another cold spell hit the court, forcing both squads to misfire for a two and a half minute span.
Two free throws by Nottingham with 10:30 to go in the half stopped the drought, and started a 10-2 run for the Highlanders as their lead grew to 20-11 with 6:10 remaining. UCR pushed its lead to 10, 24-14, two minutes later, but Cal State Fullerton cut it to just two possessions on three occasions, the last heading into the break at 30-24.
Only three UCR players scored during the first half, as Nottingham and Hadley both had 12 points, and Kearney added six.
The Highlanders scored nine of the first 12 points of the second half to open a 39-27 lead capped off by a Nottingham three-pointer at the 15:12 mark. Cal State Fullerton rallied over the next three minutes, cutting the advantage in half, 43-37.
UC Riverside responded by scoring 11 consecutive points to take a 54-37 lead with 7:14 remaining. The Titans never got closer than 13 the rest of the way, as UCR's lead grew as high as 21.
For the game, the Highlanders shot 40 percent from the field while limiting CSF to 28.6 percent. UCR also forced 22 Titans turnovers, and capitalized on 23 points off those miscues.
Next up for UCR is a Thursday, February 14 meeting against UC Irvine at 7 pm PT at the SRC Arena in Riverside.
