Riverside—Anheuser-Busch has teamed up with the UC Riverside Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and chosen baseball player David Andriese as its April recipient of the "Budweiser Responsibility Matters Good Sport of the Month." Please visit the Budweiser Responsibility Matters web page to view past recipients.
Andriese hit .440 for the month with a .517 on base percentage and a .620 slugging percentage as the Highlanders went 10-4 including a three-game, Big West Conference series sweep of #21 UC Irvine.
The junior outfielder was named the Big West player of the week by the conference and College Sports Madness for his play during the sweep of the Anteaters. Andriese reached base all four times in UCR's 4-3 win over UC Irvine on March 28 (box score/recap/highlight video), drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh of a 7-5 victory on March 29 (box score/recap/highlight video) and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth of the team's 3-2 win on March 30 (box score/recap/highlight video).
Andriese now ranks in the top 10 in the conference in batting average (.364), on base percentage (.422) and slugging percentage (.500).
Anheuser-Busch congratulates Andriese for demonstrating that RESPONSIBILITY REALLY DOES MATTER!
