Women's Hoops Readies For Central Coast Trip Starting Thursday At UC Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara—The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team heads up the Central Coast this week for a pair of games at UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly on January 23 and 25 respectively. Thursday's contest against the Gauchos is slated to tip at 7 pm PT, while Saturday's match against the Mustangs is set to begin at 4 pm.

The Highlanders are in search of their first Big West victory of the season following an 0-4 start in conference play. UCR most recently fell to UC Davis, 77-67 (box score/recap), and to Hawai'i, 74-61 (box score/recap), last week.

Sophomore guard Brittany Crain continues to lead the Highlanders offensive attack averaging a league-leading 19.7 points per game, while scoring 22.0 ppg in conference action. Annelise Ito, Natasha Hadley, and Simone DeCoud complete the quartet of double-digit scorers averaging between 10.5 and 12.0 ppg.

UC Santa Barbara is also looking for its first conference victory of the season after three straight losses to Cal Poly, Long Beach State, and Cal State Northridge. The Gauchos boast three players in double-figures led by Nicole Nesbit's 16.4 points per game.

UCSB is 24-18 all-time against the Highlanders, including winning four of the last five meetings (view all-time results).
