Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Program is honoring long-time athletic trainer Vic DeLeeuw, William Wilson '95 and Howard Holt '82 this season as part of the second-annual Bring Back The Past series.
"Our past is a big part of who we are as a program, and we're excited to once again be celebrating that history through our Bring Back The Past events," said Head Coach Dennis Cutts. "Connecting our current team and our current fans to that history is of paramount importance as we continue to build this program into a Big West contender, and I invite the entire UC Riverside community to help us honor the contributions of these three Highlanders."
UCR will celebrate the careers of each of the honorees on the SRC Arena's Vision Board and during halftime ceremonies, presenting each honoree with a letterman's jacket.
Friends, family members and fans are invited to join in the festivities. Contact the UC Riverside Athletics Ticket Office today to ensure your seat at the game as the Highlanders Bring Back The Past.
Vic DeLeeuw was a member of the UC Riverside Athletic Training staff for more than three decades ensuring that the Highlanders varsity athletes got the care they needed to stay healthy and return to the field of competition.
William Wilson '95 is one of the most notorious thieves in Highlanders' history, as he sits atop the UC Riverside charts with 199 career steals. He also ranks sixth in career assists and is in the top five in both frees made and attempted. Wilson was a part of four 20-win seasons with the Highlanders, and during his senior campaign, UC Riverside advanced to the NCAA Championship game.
Howard Holt '82 played two season for the Highlanders, leading the team in scoring and rebounding as a senior when he averaged 17.7 points and 6.9 boards per game.
