Carella and Baumstark Victorious Against Arizona

Tuscon, AZ—The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team travelled to the Tuscon Country Club Monday afternoon battling all morning against the Arizona Wildcats but came up just short, 5-2.

"I'm proud of the effort the team showed today," said head coach Tim Downey. "We are so close to a break through and putting UCR on the map."

Marcus Vizcarra and Sina Sharifi topped Sumeet Shinde and David Mushayev at No. 1, 6-1 for the Highlanders lone doubles win.

Michael Carella and Hans Baumstark picked up the wins at No. 5 and No. 6 Singles for the Highlanders, 7-6, 6-3 and 6-3, 7-5, respectively. The Wildcats won the preceding four matches.

UC Riverside returns home Friday, Jan. 30 to take on Sacramento State beginning at 1 pm PT.
