Box Score San Francisco, CA—The Highlanders (4-4) were outscored 54-30 in the second half, and the Dons (6-2) got 32 points and 10 rebounds from Taylor Proctor in the game en route to an 88-76 victory.
Brittany Crain scored 25 points to lead four UCR players in double figures. She shot 9 of 17 from the floor and went 6 for 10 from long distance.
It was the third time in her career she made six three pointers in a game— the other two occurred last season.
All-five Highlander starters scored in the opening period, led by Michelle Curry and Clemence Lefebrve with 6 apiece. They shot 58.8% from the field, compared to 30% for the Dons, who trailed 23-15 after one.
Crain connected on four first half three pointers on the way to 15 points. Curry had 11 and the Highlanders led 46-34 at the break.
Taylor Proctor led the Dons with 12 first half points.
The Dons outscored UCR 18-5 to take their first lead of the game, 52-51, with 3:32 to play in the third.
Simone Decoud's three from the right wing was for the last score of the quarter, and it gave the Highlanders a 60-58 lead entering the fourth.
Midway through the fourth, the Highlanders trailed 73-72, before a Michelle Curry layup put them back up, 74-73.
That would be the last lead the Highlanders would enjoy, as the Dons would outscored them 15-2 over the final 3:58 of the game, to eventually win, 88-76.
Proctor scored 15 of her game-high 32 points in the final period. Zhane Dikes had 22 points and 9 rebounds for San Francisco, who made 19 of their 22 free throw attempts in the second half.
As for the Highlanders, they only two chances at the chaity stripe in the second half.
Curry (15), Annelise Ito (12), and Lefebvre (10), joined Crain in double figures for UCR.
The UC Riverside Women's basketball team returns to the hardwood at home on Saturday, December 12 at 7pm. They will take on CSU Bakersfield in the finale of a men's and women's basketball double-header. The men face UNLV at 4pm.
