Softball Concludes Fresno State Kick-Off 3-2

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Fresno- The UC Riverside Softball Team moves to 6-4 after the first two weeks of regular play, dropping its final two games at the Fresno State Kick-Off.
The Highlanders fell 1-0 to Sacramento State in eight innings before losing their final game to California 10-2 in five.

After topping Sacramento State 6-7 the night before in 13 innings, the Highlanders were unable to put a run across the plate as the Hornets scored the only run to end the game after one extra frame.

The Golden Bears struck early in the Highlanders' second game of the day, scoring eight runs over the first two innings. UCR would not go quietly, when in the bottom of the second, Stephanie Tickemyer doubled to left field, bringing in Karina Romero and Taylor Wright. Romero and Wright reached base on a double and hit by pitch, respectively.

Unfortunately, Cal's bats could not be silenced as they scored a run in the third and fourth innings to end the game after the five. The Golden Bears recorded a total 15 hits for the game.

The Highlanders are back in action Saturday, Feb. 20-22 as they host the Amy S. Harrison Classic.
