Riverside— The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team hosts CSUN Saturday, Feb. 28 for its lone game of the week. At 7-6 in the conference, the Highlanders sit in a tie for fifth with Long Beach State. Tip is slated for 5 pm PT.

UC Riverside returns to the court after falling to Cal Poly, Saturday, in a close 70-68 battle after trailing by as many as 17 points. Simone DeCoud led the Highlanders with a game-high 23 points, making four of her seven three-point attempts.

Brittany Crain, the fifth leading scorer in the nation,  added 16 points to the Highlanders cause. She extended her Division I-era record of consecutive double-digit scoring efforts to 36-straight games. Crain leads the Big West with a 23.2 scoring average.

Rounding out the top-scorers for the Highlanders was freshman Michelle Curry registering 14 points. She also handed out five assists, and was just one rebound away from recording a double-double. Annelise Ito got in on the action under the boards pulling down nine rebounds of her own.

At 16-11 overall, UC Riverside is off to its best start since the 2008-09 season when the Highlanders won 18 of their first 27 games.

CSUN heads into Saturday looking to maintain their position as the second ranked team in the conference. The Matadors are coming off of a 65-53 win over Cal State Fullerton on Thursday.

CSUN's leading scorer, Ashley Guay, ranks fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 15.0 points per game. Janae Sharpe avergaes 12.3 points per game as the second-leading scorer for the Matadors, ranking 12th in the Big West.

UC Riverside ranks first in the conference in scoring averaging 71.1 points per game with the Matadors positioned second with 66.6 points.

The Highlanders extended their lead in the overall series 32-29 with a win in the most recent meeting, 68-56 on Jan. 29 earlier this year.
