Box Score 2 Tuscon, AZ- The UC Riverside Softball team is now 3-1 at the Wildcat Inviational, after splitting today's games with host Arizona, and UT-Arlington. The Highlanders were topped by Arizona in game one of the day, 10-2 then battled for a 2-1 victory over UT-Arlington.
At 15-5 overall, the Highlanders are off to their best record since the 2006 season when they won 16 of their first 20 games.
Starting the mound for the Highlanders in both games today was Chelsea Ponce, pitching 10.2 innings and moving her record this season to 10-3 and a 1.51 ERA.
Freshman Rebecca Faulkner led the Highlanders in the batter's box recording four hits today over six at bats. She now leads the squad with a .418 batting average. Faulkner, Karina Romero, and Haley Harris head into tomorrow's game against UTEP with 23 hits each through 20 games.
The Highlanders take on UTEP Sunday, March 1 in their final game of the Wildcat Classic at 8 am PT.
