Riverside—UC Riverside's Matthew Sam, performing in his first Decathlon for the Highlanders, finished in 14th place with a total of 3,931 points at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic.
On Friday, Sam posted a top mark of 22.86 in the Discus for 15th place, while finishing 11th in the 1500m (5:30.70) and 10th in the Javelin (40.31m), while passing on the 100m Hurdles and the Pole Vault.
On Thursday, he recorded an 11th place finish in the 100m (11.94), a 12th place finish in the Long Jump (6.15m), a 15th place finish in the Shot Put (8.45m), a 10th place finish in the High Jump (1.75m), and a 14th finish in the 400m (57.51).
