Riverside— The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team hosts UC Davis Thursday, March 5 for its final home game of the regular season. At 7-7 in the conference, the Highlanders sit in sixth place, on game behind Long Beach State and UC Davis at 8-6. Tip is slated for 7 pm PT.
UC Riverside returns to the court after falling to CSUN, Saturday, 88-70. Brittany Crain, the fourth leading scorer in the nation, led the Highlanders with 22 points, draining four from behind the arc. She extended her Division I-era program record of consecutive double-digit scoring efforts to 37-straight games. Crain leads the Big West with a 23.2 scoring average.
Annelise Ito and Michelle Curry added 15 points each to the Highlanders cause. Curry also contributed a team-high, eight rebounds. Since returning from injury Ito has climbed the scoring rankings and has positioned herself as the sixth leading scorer in the Big West.
Dynese Adams rounded out the top-scorers for the Highlanders with 10 points.
At 16-12 overall, UC Riverside is off to its best start since the 2008-09 season when the Highlanders won 18 of their first 28 games.
The Aggies are coming off of a 57-52 loss over UC Santa Barbara on Saturday. US Davis has dropped three-straight games since opening the season, 8-3.
UC Davis' leading scorer, Sydney Fipps, ranks third in the conference in scoring, averaging 16.1 points per game. Alyson Doherty avergaes 12.7 points per game as the second-leading scorer for the Matadors, ranking seventh in the Big West.
The Aggies rank first in the conference in three-point percentage, hitting 38.8 percent of their attempts, while the Highlanders are in second making good on 33.6 percent of their attempts from behind the arc.
The Highlanders trail in the overall series against UC Davis, 29-21 dropping the last eight meetings including a, 71-60 loss on Jan. 15 earlier this year.
