Box Score 2 Riverside- The UC Riverside Softball Team registers a 20-6 overall record after winning its final two games of the Highlander Classic. The Highlanders began the day shutting out Loyola Marymount 6-0 and finished with a 6-2 victory over UNC Greensboro.
With 20 wins, the Highlanders have recorded their best record through 26 games in the program's Division I-era.
Chelsea Ponce earned both wins for the day, and now boasts a 14-3 record. Ponce gave up just one run in 10.2 innings and striking out 14. Coming in to relieve Ponce on the mound was Tayler Misfeldt, earning two saves, giving her a total of three on the year. With three saves, Misfeldt owns the second-most saves in a single-season, coming in behind Rebecca Faulkner with four.
Both Jenna Curtan and Chelsey Holley finished the weekend with a .500 batting average. Curtan had seven hits over five games with a .611 on base percentage.
The Highlanders are back in action Tuesday, March 10 hosting Bryant. The double-header is set to begin at 1 pm PT.
