Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Northridge- The UC Riverside Softball Team is now 32-14 overall and 4-7 in the Big West after dropping a double-header to CSUN Saturday afternoon. The Highlanders fell in game one 1-0 and game two 10-6.

Starting on the mound in game one was Chelsea Ponce, who gave up just five hits which is the lowest number of hits by the Matadors since week one of conference play. CSUN was held to four against Cal Poly in game one of that series.

After a scoreless four innings, the Matadors pushed across the only run in the first game of the day off a home run over center field by Tara Kliebenstein.

Stepping back onto the mound for game two was Ponce, making her 38th appearance in 46 games. The Matadors struck fast, scoring six runs in the first inning off three hits and two errors. Receiving the call from the bullpen to relieve Ponce in the first inning was freshman Tayler Misfeldt who pitched the rest of the way.

Before scoring six runs in the bottom of the first, the Highlanders kicked off the game with two runs as Natalie Sanchez hit her fifth home run of the season, bringing in Jenna Curtan who had doubled to left field.

The Highlanders battled in the fourth inning, bringing out four runs to tie the game at six. The inning consisted of a hit by Rebecca Faulkner and an error that allowed Kris DeAnda to reach safely. With two runners on Taylor Wright brought in the first run with a single to shortstop. That brought up freshman Chelsey Holley who answered Sanchez's home run with one of her own, bringing in DeAnda and Wright.

In the bottom of the fourth, CSUN brought in the go ahead run and wouldn't give up the lead, scoring three more in the bottom of the fifth for a final, 10-6.

The Highlanders are back in action Sunday, April 19 for game three of the series against the Matadors.
