Seth Totten Posts Fastest 5,000m Time For UCR Since Early '80s

Palo Alto, CA—The UC Riverside Track & Field Teams sent a small contingent of distance runners to the Stanford Invitational this weekend, and Seth Totten ran the fastest 5,000m in more than 30 years for the Highlanders finishing in 13:51.20—just over two seconds off of the program record of 13:49.00 set by All-American Steve Alvarez back in 1981. That mark is also one of the top 10 times in the nation this season.

Cody Jordan ran the fastest time for a Big West Conference runner this year in the 1,500m finishing in 3:47.15. That puts him sixth on the school's Top 10 Performers list.

On the women's side, Faith Makau posted the fastest 1,500m time in the Big West Conference this year finishing in 4:22.35. That mark was the fourth best mark by a collegian at the meet, and places her in the top 10 in the nation.

Teammate Raquel Hefflin finished just behind Makau with a time of 4:22.99, and the duo now ranks third and fifth on the Highlanders' career Top-10 Performers list.

Weslie Totten ran the 5,000m this morning for UC Riverside finishing with a time of 18:20.35.
