Riverside—The UC Riverside Athletics Department hosted the annual Scotty Awards Wednesday evening to celebrate the many successes of the 2014-15 season. Track & Field athlete Justin Parker took home SAAC Male Freshman Student-Athlete of the Year honors.

Parker earned Big West Freshman Track Athlete of the Year honors after posting the second fastest time of the year in the conference in the 400m. His top mark of 46.87 is also the second fastest performance in Highlanders' history.

In addition, Parker ran the lead lap during the 4x400m Relay Team's fastest time of the season at the 36th Sun Angel Classic, and was ranked 22nd in the Big West in the 200m.
