Rejane Verin Captures Big West Player Of The Week For The Third TIme This Season

IrvineThe Big West conference announced this afternoon that UC Riverside forward Réjane Verin (Les Abymes, Guadeloupe/Junipero Serra HS) was selected as Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season.
 
Verin averaged 22.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists as the Highlanders earned road wins over two programs expected to contend for the regular season title.
 
In Wednesday's 78-60 win at Long Beach State, Verin poured in a career-high 34 points on 14-of-22 shooting along with 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Verin logged 20 points in the first half to help put the Highlanders ahead by 17 at the break.
 
The junior was a just a rebound shy of recording her second consecutive double-double, tallying 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks in UCR's, 77-74, win over Hawai'i Saturday night. 

It was the first win in eight attempts versus the Rainbow Wahine, which also snapped Hawai'i's 
16 game Big West home winning streak.

Verin's efforts help UC Riverside remian a perfect 4-0 in the Big West and push its overall winning streak to five games. She battled through foul trouble in the second half to make timely key plays, including sinking two fourth quarter free throws down the stretch help UCR secure the historic win.
