Softball Falls, 6-2, To East Carolina On Day Two Of The Kajikawa Classic

Box Score Tempe, AZ—The UC Riverside Softball Team fell, 6-2, to East Carolina in their lone game of the day at the Kajikawa Classic.

The Highlanders struck in the first inning, thanks a Jenna Curtan triple, followed by a Natalie Sanchez single through the left side.

UCR (1-2) maintained the 1-0 lead until the fourth inning, when East Carolina (3-0) doubled in two runs to take a 2-1 lead. In the fifth inning, the Pirates had three one run scoring hits to add to their lead. They would tack another run in the sixth on a single down the right field line to lead, 6-1.

Madeline Richard came across on the a throwing error, while taking third on a Haley Harris one out single, but the Highlanders would score no more, as the Pirates fanned two UCR hitters in a row to end the game.

Tomorrow, on the final day of the Kajikawa Classic, UC Riverside faces Wisconsin at 8 am and Seattle University at 10:15 am.
