Softball Hosts Army At 2 PM Tomorrow

Riverside—The UC Riverside Softball Team concludes a three-game home stand Thursday, against Army at 2 pm.

The Highlanders (3-4) split Monday's doubleheader with Canisius, losing 4-1 in the first game and prevailing, 6-1, in the second. (recap)

In the win over Canisius, Kaylynn Pierce tossed a complete game, one run-three hitter, while striking out a career-high nine batters.

Natalie Sanchez hit her first homerun of the season, to go along with a double and two RBI's on a three hit day for the senior. Chelsey Holley drove in two on the day and Maddy Richard went 3-for-4 in game two of the double header. 

Richard's .455 average leads the team, and she is tied with Haley Harris for the team lead in runs scored with 5.  Freshman, Hannah Rodriguez is hitting .350 through seven games, and Sanchez has drawn six walks to go along with four RBI's and one big fly.

Army (1-4) picked up its first win of the season, with a 3-1 victory over UNC Wilmington in the Seahawk Softball Bash on February 14th.

Kasey McCravey leads the team in hitting with a .389 average and outfielder Mae Wadkya is not far behind at .375. Caroline Smith (1-2, 4.70) is the team's ace, going 15.2 innings so far this season, but Kristen West also could see some time on the rubber, she has pitched 9.2 innings thus far.

 This is the first match-up between Army and UC Riverside in the history of the programs.
