Riverside--The UC Riverside Women's Basketball concludes the regular season against Cal State Fullerton at 5 pm. At the conclusion of tonight's game, seniors Brittany Crain, Annelise Ito, Akilah Martin and Tahvia Morrison will be honored.
In addition honoring the seniors post game, the team will cut down the nets in celebration of its Big West regular season championship.
In their last game, they held off a fourth quarter charge to win, 84-72, over UC Irvine, who like Cal State Fullerton has just one win in conference play. Brittany Crain had 36 points for her 14th 30 point game of her career, and Rejane Verin logged her 12th double double of the season with 19 points 11 rebounds.
UCR (22-7, 15-0) has already broken the Division I school record for wins and can become just the second school in Big West history to run the table in conference play at 16-0.
Cal State Fullerton (3-26, 1-14) fell, 82-71, to CSUN Thursday night. In the first meeting of the season on February 11th, the Highlanders broke their previously established record for margin of victory in a road win (30 at UCSB, 1/9/16) with a, 90-43, rout of the Titans.
It was a historic night for Brittany Crain, who become UCR's all-time leader in three point field goals, moved into second place on the all-time scoring list, established a new career-high with 39 points and also connected on a career-high seven triples.
The Highlanders lead the overall series, 25-22. (
