Riverside—The UC Riverside Softball Team hosts Toledo in a double header Tuesday afternoon with the first pitch scheduled for 12 noon and the second game 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one. * Game times could be changed due to weather.

The Highlanders (15-6) are coming off a victorious weekend in the Highlander Classic when they won all three of the games they played in.By picking up three wins over the weekend UCR ran its winning streak to eight games, matching the mark set by last year's team, who won a school record 39 games..

Kaylynn Pierce was dominant over the weekend, pitching 14 total innings, giving up just one run on six hits and picking up all three wins. In the opening game of the Classic, Pierce went seven innings, allowed a run on three hits while striking out a career-high 11. She would come in a relief role in the second game on Saturday, pitching two scoreless frames for the win. Sunday she tossed a five inning three hit complete game shutout in an, 8-0, win over Santa Clara to finish the weekend with a 0.50 era.

Jenna Curtan had a pair of two hit games as well as a pair of three RBI performances, while hitting .714, drawing four walks and stealing two bases on the weekend. Maddie Richard hit .600, scored four runs, knocked in two and swiped two bases, while freshman Jenae Lockwood went 4-for-8 at the plate and drove four runs for the Highlanders.


Toledo (3-11) suffered a, 9-0, loss to Big West member Cal Poly in their last game on Friday, March 4th.

Jessica Lemeiux leads the Rocket's offense hitting .378, scoring eight of their 35 runs, and stealing four bases in five attempts. Samantha Showalter is not far behind at .316 and leads the team in home runs with two this season.

Marla Gooding (3-5, 4.90) is the team's pitcher of choice this season, going 51 innings, and serving up 10 long balls this season.

The Highlanders won the only meeting between the clubs four years ago, 1-0. (box score/recap)
