Norwalk, CA—Silviu Bocancea won the Men's Open Hammer Throw Thursday afternoon at the Mt. SAC Relays with his final toss of the day which covered 58.67m (192' 7"). That mark puts Bocancea second on the Highlanders career top-10 performers list. Carl Nahigian also PRd in the event clearing 57.96m (190' 0").

On the women's side, Vesta Bell broke the UC Riverside Hammer Throw record for the second time this season, clearing 59.75m (196' 0"). That was the second best mark overall at the meet, and the best by a collegian.

The Highlanders are taking part in two meets over the weekend including the Mt. SAC Relays. They will also send a contingent of student-athletes to the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State.
