Copley, Lokossou Lead Men's Soccer To, 2-0, Win Over Visiting San Diego

Box Score Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team remained undefeated at home Thursday evening as Stephen Copley and Antonio Lokossou netted second-half goal in the Highlanders' 2-0 victory over visiting San Diego. It was UCR's first-ever victory over the Toreros, as San Diego owned a 5-0-2 advantage in the seven prior meetings between the clubs.

San Diego outshot the Highlanders 13-7 on the night, but UC Riverside struck the shots that counted. In the 56th minute, Philipp Dominique found Ricardo Ruiz in the center of the field, and Ruiz slotted the ball straight down the middle of the field. Antonio Lokossou collected the ball and beat the Toreros' goalkeeper to the right side putting the Highlanders up, 1-0.

Stephen Copley put UC Riverside up 2-0 in the 75th minute as Romario Lomeli's laced a free kick into the Toreros' 18. Copley rose above the crowd and headed the ball past three defenders.

Vincent Morales recorded his second shutout of the season in the victory.

The Highlanders remain at home this Sunday as they host #22 Gonzaga at 11 am.
