Box Score Las Vegas, NV—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team fell from the ranks of the undefeated Sunday evening in the Highlanders' final match of the Johann Memorial Classic in Las Vegas. Host UNLV scored a goal in each half to come away with a 2-1 victory, evening its record at 2-2.
The Rebels outshot UC Riverside 8-4 in the first period, getting on the board with just 4:24 to go before intermission. That was when Ryan Connor netted his first score of the season on assists my Maliq Cooper and Spencer Jackson.
It only took 1:21 into the second half for UNLV to double up its lead, as Cooper scored his first goal of the year. Memo Diaz and Timo Mehlich assisted on Cooper's score.
The Highlanders cut the lead in half thanks to a UNLV own goal with 2:27 to go, but they were unable to come up with the equalizer.
UC Riverside keeper Vincent Morales recorded five saves in the loss as the Highlanders fell to 1-2-0 on the season
