Men's Golf Heads To San Diego For The Pro Compression Invitational On Monday

Rancho Santa Fe, CA– The UC Riverside Golf Team readies for its second event of the 2017 season–The Pro Compression Invitational at The Farm's Golf Club. The University of San Diego hosts the 12-team competition, taking place February 13-14.
The Highlanders are looking to improve upon an eighth place finish out of ten teams at their last event, the Folino Invitational. Sam Gillis lead the way UCR finishing in a tie for fourth. Gillis shot even par 72 in round one, followed by a pair of 73s in the final two rounds to earn his ninth career top-5.
Michael Wong was a top-20 finisher for the Highlanders shooting a two-over 74 in back-to-back rounds to open the tournament. He finished up with a 75, leaving him tied for 17th overall.
Last season at the then called Farms Collegiate Invitational, the UC Riverside finished tied for third in the nine-team field after a strong showing on the final day. Sam Gillis led the way for the Highlanders in a tie for sixth, while Matt Lutz came in 12th overall. (story)
The two day tournament starts with 36 holes on Monday at 8:15 am, and ends with the final 18 holes on Tuesday with scheduled tee times from 8:00-9:45 am.
Expected to compete for the Highlanders is; Gillis, Lutz, Andrew Spilman, Pachara Sakulyong, and Wong.
