Riverside–The UC Riverside Softball Team readies for a mid-week double-header against CSU Bakersfield on Wednesday, April 19. Game one is scheduled to get underway at 1 pm PT.

UCR (21-17, 3-6) returns to the friendly confines of Amy S. Harrison Field after playing six straight Big West games on the road. UC Riverside owns a sparkling 18-6 record at home this season.

The Highlanders come into Wednesday's match-up with the Roadrunners having dropped two of three in Hawai'i, where they got a complete-game four-hit shutout performance from Tayler Misfeldt in their game two, 3-0, victory (box score / recap).

Misfeldt didn't allow the conference's highest-scoring team to get a runner past second base Saturday, when she struck out four and walked just one in notching her ninth win of the year. The junior from Tracy, CA has a pair of complete game shutout victories, and a 1.53 ERA in 36.2 innings pitched during league play to lead Coach Palmer's staff.

Junior center fielder Jenna Curtan scored a run, drove in one, and hit .400 in the weekend series on the island, which raised her averaged to .360 on the year–good enough for fifth in the conference.

Maddy Richard is currently tied for the Big West lead with 23 walks, and ranks second with 20 stolen bases in 23 attempts.

The Highlanders will look to get the defense back on track, as they committed an uncharacteristic five errors in three games against the Rainbow Wahine. They still, however lead the Big West with a .967 team fielding percentage.

CSU Bakersfield arrives in the Inland Empire with a 6-28 overall record, 1-8 in the WAC this season. They have dropped 10 of their last 11 contests, including four straight heading into Wednesday's twin bill. Four of the team's six wins have come the road in 2017.

The Roadrunners are led by Jo Larios' .303 batting average and Chris Hipa's 18 RBIs and .500 slugging percentage this season.

Summer Evans paces the Runners with a 5-12 record to go along with a team-best 4.61 ERA in 98.2 innings, 16 starts. Lyndsay Kilmenko has pitched 73 innings this year, and could also see time in the circle.

CSU Bakersfield is 1-6 against Big West opponents Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly, CSUN, and Long Beach State this season with their lone coming victory over the Mustangs, 11-8

The clubs squared off last year in Bakersfield, where the Highlanders emerged with a, 3-1, victory. UCR holds a 9-5 lead versus CSU Bakersfield in the all-time series. (all-time results)
