Seyram Bell Promoted To Women's Basketball Associate Head Coach

Riverside–Head Women's Basketball Coach John Margaritis recently announced that Seyram Bell has been promoted to Associate Head Coach.

"I'd first like to acknowledge how difficult this decision was. All of our coaches are fantastic." said Margaritis. "Seyram is an outstanding coach, was a heck of a player, and is a strong positive influence on the young women we are leading. She has been a Highlander for 11 of the 13 years I have been here–this promotion is well-deserved."

Bell, (formerly Gbewonyo) had a stellar playing career under Margaritis, and was a member of two Big West Championships teams. She also is a four-time Big West All-Conference selection from 2005-09 that helped the blue and gold advance to three postseasons, including trips to the NCAA Tournament in the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.

She ranks fourth on the all-time scoring list, and second in games played and started.

Bell received her Bachelor of Arts degree from UC Riverside in Interdisciplinary Studies: Ethnic Studies and Political Science in 2009. After graduation, she played professionally for Olympiada Larissa in Greece from September-December of 2009 averaging 8.5 points.

She rejoined her alma mater as an assistant coach on September 1, 2010.

As a coach, Bell has helped lead the Highlanders to 97 victories, and guided 20 Big West All-Conference honorees to go along with two Player of the Year, and three Freshman of the Year award winners.

In May of 2015, Seyram Bell graduated from the University of Gonzaga's School of Education with a Master of Arts in Sports & Athletic Administration. She is married to UCR Men's Basketball Associate Head Coach Justin Bell, with whom she has a daughter, Noelle.
