Flagstaff, AZ—The UC Riverside Track and Field Teams opened their indoor track season at the Lumberjack Team Challenge at Northern Arizona on Friday.
On the women's side, senior Faith Makau (2:16.97) earned a first place finish in the 800 Meter Dash. The Highlanders took 4th in the 4x400 Relay (3:56.48, Taylor Brown, Kenady Jackson, Sydney Hunter, Eve Alberico), and also received top-five finishes from Jorden O'Neal (Long Jump, 5.39m) and Izabel Lopez (Triple Jump, 10.70m).
The men saw four Highlanders take first place finishes, including Peter Manu (60m Hurdles, 8.05s), Aidan Olvera (Pole Vault, 4.11m), Lawrence O'Hara (Shot Put, 16.57m) and Wessley Braddock (18.49m).
Ethan Van Setten (50.41s) took third in the 400 Meter Dash, as did Ricky Wright Jr. (6.85m) in the long jump. UCR's team of Matthew Reyes, Blake Gelinas, Quinn Williams and Van Setten also took third in the 4x400 Relay (3:28.09).
