Riverside, Calif. — This weekend, the UC Riverside Softball Team (7-3) will play host to the Amy S. Harrison Classic. This tournament will feature three visiting teams in George Washington (3-2), Montana (1-9), and New Mexico (2-8) and is the first of five straight home tourneys for the Highlanders.

MARY NUTTER COLLEGIATE CLASSIC
UCR is coming off of an impressive outing at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic this past weekend where the team won four out of five games. In those four wins, the Highlanders outscored their opponents 20-1.

TAYLER ON TOP
Senior Pitcher Tayler Misfeldt (4-2) broke the all-time UCR record for wins on February 18th, 2018 as she picked up her 41st W in a shutout vs. Stanford. So far this season she has shutout three teams and struck-out 33 batters to earn a 2.76 ERA.

CURTAN'S UP
Senior outfielder Jenna Curtan has been a strong offensive leader so far in her final season for the Highlanders. Over the team's 11 games this year she ranks 1st on the team in batting average (.471), slugging (.618), OPB (.581), hits (16), doubles (5), runs (12), and total bases (21). Her 12 runs scored and high OBP rank 2nd in the Big West and her 16 hits rank 3rd.

THIS IS R HOUSE
So far this season, UC Riverside is 1-0 at home after defeating San Diego State 4-1 in the team's opener last week. Since Head Coach Nikki Palmer took the helm in 2017, the Highlanders are a combined 25-11 when playing at Amy S. Harrison Field.

SHUTOUT CITY
Five of the team's seven wins this season have come by way of shutout. In those five games, the Highlanders have won a pair of 10-0 games and have scored a combined 28 runs.

FRESHMEN ON FIRE
Freshman Seanna Garewal and Hailey Dolcini have already made a positive impact on the team in their first year of play. Garewal ranks 3rd on the team in batting average (.385), OBP (.467), runs scored (5), and hits (10). She also smacked her first career HR on February 18th against Stanford and is 2nd on the team in slugging at .615.

Pitcher Hailey Dolcini (2-1) picked up her first two wins in her last two starts and has team-leading 0.77 ERA over 23.1 innings this season. Opponents have struggled against the freshman batting only .167 and striking out 21 times in her four appearances. She tops the Highlanders with just two earned runs.

HOT STARTS
The Highlanders have faired well when they get on the score board early as they are a perfect 7-0 when scoring first and are 3-1 when the teams scores in the 1st inning. This success has been in part because of UCR's ability to get lead-off batters aboard 42.6% of the time.
