Fullerton, CA – The UC Riverside Softball Team looks to kick off its season this weekend with a full slate of games at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament held at UCLA and the Titan Classic at Cal State Fullerton.

The Highlanders will open up their non-conference schedule Friday afternoon with a double-header featuring Rutgers and Loyola Marymount at the Anderson Family Field in Fullerton. The following day, UCR will head to Easton Stadium in Los Angeles to face Maryland. The Highlanders will then wrap up the tournament on Sunday with another double-header against Middle Tennessee and tournament host UCLA.

Head Coach Nikki Palmer will be heading into her second season after leading the Highlanders to a 28-24 overall record in 2017. Making their UCR debuts this weekend will be four freshmen — Raena Robinson, Cassidy Matthie, Seanna Garewell, and Hailey Dolicini.

Returning to the circle for her final year is pitcher Tayler Misfeldt, who is coming off of a career-best 2.74 ERA as a junior. She begins her senior season with 37 career wins as a Highlander, which ranks 3rd all-time in program history, and is the most by any player in the team's Division I era (since 2002).

Four other Highlanders returning for their season include catcher Chelsey Holley, infielder Jenae Lockwood, pitcher Rebecca Faulkner, and outfielder Jenna Curtan. Curtan is coming off of an impressive year in 2017, when she led the team in hits (52), batting average (.351), and RBIs (31).

The Highlanders will take the field for the first time this season at 1:00 PM against Rutgers at Anderson Family Field in Fullerton.
