WALNUT & AZUSA, Calif. – Coming off one of their best performances of the season as the hosts of last week's Highlander Twilight, the UC Riverside Track and Field Teams head out to participate at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invitational this Thursday through Saturday.
Â
More than 20 Highlanders are set to compete at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, CA. That includes the 4x100m Relay teams on both the men's and women's side for UCR, which have shined of late.
Erik Cisneros, Michael Kojin, Nathan Noble and Carlos Wedlow will represent the men coming off their fastest time of the year at the Highlander Twilight. Last Friday, they dropped under 41 seconds for the first time, as their time of 40.97 seconds was the fourth-fastest in school history.
The women's 4x100 will consist of Sirai Thompson, Camille Deadwiler, Victoria Sandoval and Destiny Mitchell. With the exception of Sandoval, this Highlander squad also took first last Friday with a time of 47.37.
Kojin, along with Tayler Fleming, will take on the field fresh off Big West Athlete of the Week honors. Both earned their first weekly award of the season following exceptional performances last week.
Fleming nabbed the fourth Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week award thanks to a conference-leading long jump of 20-04.50, which helped her win the event by nearly a foot and a half. That mark qualified her for NCAA Regionals and was good for the No. 9 mark in the West Region and No. 24 nationally.
Kojin earned the first weekly honor of his career after posting the Big West's top 200m time of 20.94 (+3.6w), finishing in third overall and also qualifying for Regionals. The Santa Clarita, CA native also recorded a season-best time in the 100m Dash (10.64), a mark which ranks eighth in the conference.
