NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – UC Riverside Track and Field will be sending four Highlander student-athletes – two each on the men's and women's sides – to compete in the 2018 Big West Championship Multis this Friday and Saturday.
The UCR men will be represented by sophomore Aidan Olvera and freshman Jose Castellon, competing in the decathlon.
Sophomore Dilini Amarasekara and freshman Seline Schinke will represent UCR on the women's side, competing in the heptathlon at their first career Big West Championship.
Amarasekara finished off a successful indoor track season at the MPSF Championships earlier this year, taking seventh-place in the women's pentathlon with a score of 3,585 points. That mark was good for the second-highest total of her career, while her high jump of 1.65m (5'5") put her at third all-time at UCR.
She also set the indoor school record in the long jump with a leap of 5.87m (19'3) at the Mountain T's Invite in early February.
The Highlanders will be back in Northridge next weekend for the rest of the Big West Championship events.
