RIVERSIDE—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team (5-2) earned its third straight victory Tuesday night as the Highlanders topped visiting Longwood (4-3) 71-58. UCR saw four players hit double digits in scoring including junior George Willborn III who notched his third double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Highlanders got out to an incredible early run going up 19-0, forcing the Lancers to miss their first eleven shot attempts from the field, while UCR connected on eight of 12. UCR saw a flurry of scoring from Willborn III, sophomore center Callum McRae, who finished with 13 points and nine boards, and junior Dominick Pickett, who knocked down back-to-back triples on his way to a 14 point performance.

After going scoreless for just under eight minutes, Longwood made up for lost time with a barrage of threes that would bring them to within single digits and went into the half trailing just 31-25. The Lancer momentum carried into the second half as well with the team taking its first lead of the game early in the period.

From there the two teams saw a scoring drought fueled by strong defensive efforts and solid rebounding, until just under six minutes when the Highlanders found their flow and went on a huge game-winning run that was sparked by an emphatic dunk by Willborn III. Sophomore guard Dragan Elkaz followed knocking down three straight triples, on his way to a 15 point performance, as the Highlanders closed out the game on a 28-16 run.
