Men's Golf Finishes Strong at Farms Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif.—Saving its best for last, the UC Riverside Men's Golf team finished in seventh place at the Farms Invitational on Tuesday, hosted by the University of San Diego.
The team combined to shoot 308 in the first round, 317 in the second round and 296 in the final round. Michael Wong had five birdies in the final round, four of which came on the back nine. Bahram Talle, Andrew Spilman and Sam He all had four birdies in the final round.
The Invitational took place at The Farms Gold Club in Rancho Santa Fe, a 6,947-yard, par 72 layout. Some of the teams in the field included: Loyola Marymount, UC Berkeley, Long Beach State and Cal Baptist.
Cal finished first, combining to shoot 843 (-21), while LMU finished second by shooting 879 (+15) and LBSU finished third by shooting 884 (+20).
The Highlanders were led by Wong, a senior, who finished tied for 12th place after combining to shoot 220 (+4). Â
The team's next tournament will be the Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, CA hosted by the University of Wyoming. Play begins on Feb. 22.
