Men's Golf Set for Grand Canyon Invitational

PHOENIX—The UC Riverside Men's Golf team continues its spring season on Friday in the Grand Canyon Invitational, marking the second straight year it's participating in the tournament.
The Invitational, at the GCU Championship Golf Course, is a 7,200-yard, Par 71 layout on Day 1 and a 7,136-yard, Par 71 layout on Day 2. It will be a shotgun start both days, with the teams playing 36 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday.
It is a crowded field. Some of the 18 teams in the field include: Missouri, Columbia, Texas El Paso and Wyoming. Hawaii is the only other Big West rival participating.
UCR's lineup includes: Michael Wong, Andrew Spilman, Sam He, Eddy Yi and Matthew Huo.
Wong and Spilman were in the lineup last year when the team finished fifth out of 15 teams. The two finished tied for 30th overall, with both shooting one-under-par in the second round.
In its last tournament, after a promising first day of play, UCR had a challenging final two rounds of play and finished in 20th place at the Desert Intercollegiate.
