Softball Hosts Cal Poly to Open Conference Play

RIVERSIDE, Calif.—The UC Riverside Softball Team is set to begin Big West Conference play this week as the Highlanders host Cal Poly in a three-game weekend series. UCR will be looking to carry the momentum of its current 13-game win streak into its league schedule.

SERIES SCHEDULE
Game 1 - Saturday, March 30th @ 1PM
Game 2 - Saturday, March 30th @ 3:30PM
Game 3 - Sunday, March 31st @ 1PM

UC Riverside is currently on a 13-game win streak that dates back to a 4-0 shutout over UTEP on March 3rd. Over these 13 games the Highlanders have outscored their opponents 71-23 and have collected four shutouts.

BOLES IN THE CIRCLE
Junior Jacy Boles has already put together a career season this year posting a 10-2 record, a 3.36 ERA and a team high 62 strikeouts, which ranks sixth in the Big West. She hasn't earned a loss since February and has collected nine wins in her last 10 appearances. Hitters have struggled to get on base against Boles hitting just .241, which ranks seventh in conference.

VETE-RUNS
The Highlanders veterans have set the tone on the base paths so far this year as juniors Danielle Ortega, Emma Ramelot, and senior Brittney Garcia have combined for 55 runs this year. Ramelot leads the way with 24.

WHEELS
The Highlanders have been successful when gambling on the base paths this year stealing 25 bases in just 29 attempts, which is the second most in the Big West. In return they have hosed six runners of their own on the defensive end.
