Tough 3rd Round in Fresno for Women’s Golf

FRESNO, Calif. – The women's golf team struggled in the 3^rd round of the Fresno State Classic on Tuesday. Copper River Country Club got the best of the team as they shot a 303 on the final day to finish in fifth place in the classic.

The Highlanders dropped from fourth place (+6) to fifth place (+21) after the final round concluded. The course wasn't kind to many teams as the only team to finish under par was the UC Davis Aggies.

Sophomore Serena Chon finished with the Highlanders best score in the tournament; shooting for a score of +6 (222). Chon finished the tournament tied for 23^rd.

The sophomore was followed by teammates sophomore Ping Huang and senior Jakeishya Le as they finished +7 (223). The duo finished the classic tied for 26^th.

Although the team didn't have the round they were expecting, there was a lot of promise shown in the first two rounds. The Highlanders finished fourth in the tournament with 35 collective birdies.

The team will look to tie up the loose ends this week in practice before they head to Maricopa, Arizona to play in the Cowgirl Classic. The Cowgirl classic will go next Monday and Tuesday, April 8^th and 9^th. This will be the Highlanders last regular season tournament before they compete in the Big West conference championships.
