Softball to Host Long Beach State in Weekend Series

RIVERSIDE, Calif.—The UC Riverside Softball Team (19-13, 2-1) will put its hot streak to the test the weekend as the Highlanders host Long Beach State (14-18, 1-2) in a three-game conference series. UCR has been dominant as of late winning 15 of its last 16 games, including a 2-1 series win over Cal Poly.

BOLES IN THE CIRCLE
Junior Jacy Boles has already put together a career season this year posting a 10-3 record, a 3.42 ERA and a team high 71 strikeouts, which ranks eighth in the Big West. She has earned just one loss since February and has collected nine wins in her last 11 appearances. Hitters have struggled to get on base against Boles hitting just .244, which ranks seventh in conference.
VETE-RUNS
The Highlanders veterans have set the tone on the base paths so far this year as juniors Danielle Ortega, Emma Ramelot, and senior Brittney Garcia have combined for 71 runs this year. Ramelot leads the way with 26.
WHEELS
The Highlanders have been successful when gambling on the base paths this year stealing 28 bases in just 32 attempts, which is the second most in the Big West. In return they have hosed six runners of their own on the defensive end.
