Softball to Host Cal State Fullerton for Senior Weekend

RIVERSIDE, Calif.—The final week of the regular season has come for Big West Softball and UC Riverside will have the opportunity to close out the season on a high note at home as the Highlanders host the first-place Titans from Cal State Fullerton. It will be a full weekend on and off the field as Friday's doubleheader marks the team's annual Pink Day and Saturday is set for a Senior Day celebration.

CAL STATE FULLERTON SERIES SCHEDULE 
Game 1 - Friday, May 10th @ 1PM
Game 2 - Friday, May 10th @ 3:30PM
Game 3 - Saturday, May 11th @ 1PM

STRIKEOUT CANCER
Friday marks the annual NFCA Strikeout Cancer games where the Highlanders will be sporting pink to support breast cancer research and awareness. Admission is free for the afternoon doubleheader.

SENIOR DAY
Saturday marks the final game at Amy S. Harrison for the team's five seniors: Bayleigh Heineman, Amanda Lynch, Brittany Garcia, Hannah Rodriguez, and Rebecca Faulkner. Following the game, the senior class will be honored on the field.

ON THE ATTACK
UC Riverside has performed well at the plate this year at the Highlanders' .276 team batting average ranks fourth in the Big West and their .364 team OBP is good for third. The team has also put runs on the board in 41 of its 48 games.

D-MONEY
Junior outfielder Danielle Ortega has been incredible with the bat in her junior year as her .379 batting average leads the team and ranks fifth in the Big West. She also leads the team with an incredible .483 OBP, getting on base nearly half of time, which is good for fifth in conference. Her eight stolen bases rank seventh.

VETE-RUNS
The Highlanders veterans have set the tone on the base paths this year as juniors Danielle Ortega, Emma Ramelot, and senior Brittney Garcia have combined for 90 runs this year. Ramelot leads the way with 35, which ranks sixth in conference.

WHEELS
The Highlanders have been successful when gambling on the base paths this year stealing 34 bases in just 40 attempts, which is the third most in the Big West. In return they have hosed eight runners of their own on the defensive end.
