RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of California, Riverside (UCR) men's and women's Track and Field team are set to host the fourth annual Chris Rinne Twilight event on Friday, April 2
.
Events start at 10:30 AM with redshirt freshman Shiloh Corrales-Nelson opening things up in the women's hammer throw. Corrales-Nelson will also throw the discus and shot throughout the afternoon. The meet is split into two sessions, a morning and afternoon field event session, which features not only Corrales-Nelson, but also
Purnima Gunarathna in the women's high jump and the duo of
Anthony Reyes and Cam Lewis in the men's triple jump. On the oval, freshman
Dariana Miramontes will be running her first 1500m of her collegiate career. In her first race of the season, Miramontes ran a huge lifetime best at 5000m (17:44.45) which already has her qualified for the Big West Championships. We'll also see senior
Quinn Williams going over 400m hurdles. Running events will begin at 5:30 PM and continue through the evening.
"We're excited to be back hosting here at the UCR Track Stadium," commented Director of Track & Field
Nate Browne. He continued, "This is the first time since 2019 that we get a chance defend our house. It's a testament to what we can do as a team; from Chancellor Wilcox, to (Athletic Director)
Wes Mallette, and their staffs as well as our sports medicine and coaching staffs for getting everything organized and keeping everyone safe. And I know our athletes are thrilled to represent UCR here in Riverside."
Field Events will be contested from 10:30 AM – 5:00 PM and Track events will begin at 5:30 PM and will wrap up by 8:30 PM.
