RIVERSIDE, Calif. - All-Big West Honorable Mention Jock Perry has signed a deal to play professionally for the Ballarat Miners of the Australian National Basketball League, it was announced today.
Perry, a graduate transfer from Saint Mary's, averaged 11.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest to go along with two double doubles, including 16 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in the Highlanders' Big West Semifinal appearance against UC Irvine.
"Jock Perry was another in a long line of successful players from Australia here at UC Riverside," Highlanders head coach Mike Magpayo said. "All of us in the program - from myself, my staff and our student-athletes - are enormously proud that he has accomplished his goal to sign a professional contract in his homeland."
A standout student in UCR's MBA program, Perry joins a long list of players from Down Under to come through the UC Riverside program, including a Division I-leading nine on the 2020-21 roster alone.
Miners head coach Brendan Joyce applauded the 7-1 center in a statement for his flexibility on the floor, along with his "versatility and skill package." Perry will be available for the team's series this coming weekend with Hobart.
"(Jock's success) speaks to the development of UCR Basketball," Magpayo added, "and all the hard work he put in during his time with us to achieve his goal of playing professionally."
