UC Riverside put on a shooting clinic Saturday night at the Matadome, downing CSUN 77-67 behind a 13-for-33 three-point clip and a career-high 22 points from Wil Tattersall. The Highlanders shot 48 percent from the field overall, their second-best shooting performance of the season and best in Big West competition.

With the win, UCR improves to 3-1 in the Big West for the second straight year with all three wins this season coming away from the SRC Arena. The Highlanders are also 10-5 overall for the second straight year and the third in the program's 20-year Division I era.

"The program has high standards," head coach Mike Magpayo said. "Our guys handle everything like pros and they handled this week and the canceled game this week the same. 10-5 is a good start and it's very promising for the guys to grab three road wins to start conference."

UCR pushed the pace to open the game with a quick 8-0 start on threes from Wil Tattersall and Dominick Pickett and a field goal from Callum McRae. Five minutes in, UC Riverside held a 14-4 lead with five different Highlanders on the scoresheet.

A free throw from McRae cooled down a CSUN offense that eventually caught up and trailed the Highlanders by just six halfway through the first half. Tattersall's second three of the night at 10:34 gave UCR some cushion with an 18-10 lead.

The three ball continued to fall in the first half for the Highlanders, who went 9 of 18 from deep through the first 20 minutes - already the highest since nine against California Baptist on December 12. Dominick Pickett ended the half with four of UCR's eight threes, as he and Tattersall went into the locker room already in double figures scoring.

UC Riverside's transition defense dominated the first half with a 15-1 advantage in points off turnovers, 6-1 in steals and 5-1 in fast-break points. UCR in the second half cemented its fourth game this season with 10 made threes and first since November 26 against Florida A&M.

CSUN clawed back into the game in the second half with a 6-0 run, effectively cutting the Highlanders' lead to 63-53 with 7:36 remaining before Dragan Elkaz converted two free throws to regain a double digit lead. Elkaz finished with eight points with a pair of threes.

Tattersall's 22 points included 12 in the first half, ultimately going 9 of 11 from the floor. He and Pickett combined for nine of UCR's 13 made threes.

Pickett enjoyed another highlight reel of his own, going for 15 points of 5 of 11 shooting with all five makes coming beyond the three-point line. Zyon Pullin led the way with seven rebounds, one of nine Highlanders to grab a rebound and one of three with five boards on the evening. Pullin also dished out eight assists, flirting with a triple double along with his 13 points.

UC Riverside now begins a four-game home stretch starting on Thursday, January 27 against Long Beach State at 7:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live stats available at www.gohighlanders.com.Â
