RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Riverside put on for Highlander fans in its lone tune up of the season on Friday night with a 94-79 win over CSU Dominguez Hills at the SRC Arena.
Flynn Cameron paced UCR with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting with five makes from downtown, while Kyle Owens registered 17 points in his Highlander debut on 60 percent from the floor. The Montana transfer was one rebound shy of a double double on Friday.
Jamal Hartwell II scored six of his eight points in the second half on a 2-for-2 clip from downtown while UCR as a team recorded 13 of its 15 fast-break points in a second half that saw the Highlanders use a 20-4 run to close out the exhibition.
Jhaylon Martinez was active down low for the Highlanders with four of his six boards coming on the offensive glass, while Cameron recorded five of his six rebounds in the second half.
UC Riverside generated 22 assists from nine different guys on Friday with Cameron, Zyon Pullin and Vlademir Salaridze combining for 13 of them. Salaridze also recorded four steals on the night with Cameron grabbing three.
UCR will begin its regular season on Monday, November 7 at Colorado with tipoff slated 5:30 p.m. on the Pac-12 Networks.
